We made it… the final batch of Elvis Presley Outtakes…
I managed to stretch it out to ten installments! At first I thought I’d only make nine, but after some quick shuffling around, I made it to ten! Is anybody out there proud of me?
No? AWWWWWWWW :-(
That’s ok, though, because I’m glad we’ve hit the last of the bunch. [...]
I know I keep saying this, but THIS batch of Elvis Presley Outtakes is probably my favorite of the series.
The reason THIS batch is my favorite is that it includes the famous 1969 “laughing” performance of “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” I’ve posted this song before, but it’s always worth revisiting because it’s one of the funniest moments in Rock n’ Roll. I never fail to laugh along when I hear this performance… and I always seem to find something new to laugh at. [...]
Once again, here is another installment in the Elvis Presley Outtakes series. We’re coming on to the end, and I have to say that this next batch is perhaps my favorite of the lot so far.
It’s no question that Elvis was an incredible singer. His style was and still is unique, but one very cool thing that these outtakes demonstrate is his dedication and focus on his craft [...]
This is the beginning to the end, good people. We are now on the third and last disc of the Elvis Presley Outtakes. I sincerely hope you have all enjoyed this series as much as I have. It’s taken almost two months to get here, but we’re here and all is good.
Speaking of Elvis Impersonators, did you know that Brad Crum is the NUMBER ONE Elvis Impersonator in Pennsylvania? He’s now performing with a FULL BAND!!!
Here is the sixth installment of the Elvis Presley Outtakes. We’re now at the end of disc two of the collection… two down, one to go!
Since this series began in November, I’ve actually been doing more research and reading about The King… mostly to have information for these posts, but also because (as I’ve said before) these outtakes show me a side of Elvis that I’ve never thought about before. He will ALWAYS be “The King” to me, but through these recordings, he’s become a “person” to me [...]
Here’s the fifth installment of the Elvis Presley Outtakes. We’re now halfway through the second disc of the collection…
This selection includes one of my favorite Elvis songs, “Promised Land.” Originally written and recorded by Chuck Berry in 1965, Elvis’ version appeared on his 1975 album, Promised Land. There are a [...]
I was originally planning on getting to all the Elvis Presley Outtakes by the end of the year, but it doesn’t look like it’ll happen. No worries, though, as I’ll keep posting these until I get to the end of the collection. I’m now at the start of the second disc, [...]
Here is the third installment of the Elvis Presley Outtakes. This finishes up disc one of the three-disc collection. I hope you are all finding them as enjoyable as I did the first time I heard them.
One special track on this installment is take one of Elvis’ first single, [...]
My iPod was set on “shuffle” again today while I drove down the busy streets of my hometown. As I’ve said before, I love the “shuffle” feature on the iPod because it often plays songs that I wouldn’t consciously choose as listening material. We all have our “regulars” that we play [...]
Here is the second installment of the Elvis Presley Outtakes. I was thrilled to see the response to the first of this series… it’s great to know that The King is just as popular now as he ever was.
I grew up listening to Elvis Presley records… my dad LOVED Elvis [...]
