GOOD Friday MP3: Child Rebel Soldier – “Don’t Stop” + Kanye West Updates on Album, Film, etc…

This week’s G.O.O.D. Friday drop by Kanye West isn’t so much by Kanye West, but by a trio he’s a part of.

Child Rebel Soldier is a hip-hop “supergroup” made up of Kanye West, Pharrell & Lupe Fiasco. They released a track, “Us Placers” back in 2007 that appeared on West’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing mixtape. The song ended up on Rolling Stone‘s Top 100 Songs of 2007.

So they’ve got that going for them… which is nice.

Well, this week’s G.O.O.D. Friday drop from Kanye West reforms the trio, and even I have to say that it’s a pretty frikkin’ cool track. I have no idea what they’re talking about, but it’s probably about not stopping something.

Anyhow, Kanye has had quite a week and I’m going to try to catch you all up on his going-ons. I swear, I think there’s more news on him on a weekly basis than there is about any other artist nowadays. What’s really crazy is that he’s going to keep it up until December. That’s a month and a half away. Wow. The guy’s on fire.

– In case you didn’t know already, his upcoming album is officially called My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I kind of liked the original would-be title, Good Ass Job, but since Kanye West doesn’t listen or care about a word I say, I suppose My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will do.

– Some of his G.O.O.D. Friday songs will appear on the record. The first song on the album is called “Dark Fantasy” and is produced by The Rza and co-produced by West and No I.D.

– The album drops on November 22nd. You can pre-order it here.

– He debuted his film, Runaway, in London. Prior to the screening, he explained, “Purple Rain, The Wall, Michael Jackson’s Thriller – I wanted to do a modern version of that.” I haven’t seen the film, so I have no idea what it look like… next time I’m on Kanye’s yacht, I’ll ask to view it.

– Kanye announced that the film would be packaged with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Sweet! Now I won’t need to ask about it next time I’m on his yacht, and I can focus on steering.

– The first single off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, “Runaway,” is available for purchase on iTunes.

– West remixed the song, “In For The Kill,” for La Roux and is planned to be in the video. La Roux is also set to appear on Kanye’s upcoming record as well. I scratch your back, you scratch mine! Nice.

– Other guests on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy are supposedly Jay-Z, M.I.A., No I.D., Alicia Keys, Kid Cudi, Bon Iver and John Legend (who seems to be EVERYWHERE now).

Ok, I think that’s it. Did I miss anything, Kanye?

Sounds good to me, man. Good ass job!

MP3: Kanye West – “So Appalled” (feat. RZA, Jay-Z, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz & Cyhi the Prynce)

Kanye West tweeted the artwork for his seventh G.O.O.D. Friday track, “So Appalled”, pretty early yesterday. And not too long after that, he tweeted the link to the download.

“So Appalled” features RZA, Jay-Z, Pusha T, Swizz Beatz & Cyhi the Prynce.

I have no idea who most of those people are.

What I’ve been trying to figure out is how all of these people are involved in this track. I mean, that’s six people (including Kanye) for one track. That’s just a few dozen shy of another USA for Africa. They each appear to take a turn rapping, but isn’t that a bit too much? Can’t they get the point across with just three of them?

Anyhow, “So Appalled” doesn’t quite agree with me like his last few have. The track is over six minutes long and well, that’s about 3 minutes too long for me to sit through. I’m sure it’s a fine hip-hop track, just not one for me.

Kanye has been maintaining his Twitter presence… he talks about some random stuff, but recently he hit on something that people latched on to. Take a look at this tweet:

Then not long after that, he tweeted:

Kanye Lipstick Tweet

And he was right… check it out:

Then he tweeted:

I don’t get what he has against black lipstick.

Kanye West Monster

New Music: Kanye West – “Monster” ft. Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver & Nicki Minaj

I just love following Kanye West on Twitter. One minute he’s tweeting about french fries being the devil, and the next minute he’s tweeting links to download new music.

Earlier this week Kanye announced that he’d be dropping one new song every weekend until Christmas, calling it “good Fridays” – or G.O.O.D. Fridays, to go along with his label name. Anyway, yesterday was one of those good Fridays, as Kanye dropped a track off his upcoming project with Jay-Z, a 5 track EP that he announced as Watch the Throne.

About three hours after announcing Watch the Throne, Kanye tweeted the following: ‘MONSTER’ ….. Happy GOOD Friday!!! The second song off of me and Jay album!. The tweet included a link his website,, where you could download the track. As you can see on the image to the right, “Monster” features Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver, and Nicki Minaj.

Before even listening to the track, I read through some of the comments on Kanye’s site. It’s always fun to see what others have to say. And judging by the majority of the comments, I’m thinking they dig the track:

WHATSHOTNOW: that’s one kanye’s best song EVER !!

DANILO: maannn WOWOW kanye donendid it again man i got to marte to see u cuz dats where tis nikka is from

MATTHIAS: Bon Iver is so dope!!! But Kanye the drums are to quiet, please change the drums and make some more banging…like in the snippet…it would be the nr1 song!

MATTHIAS (again): The song is so dope Bon Iver killed it!! But are you happy with the drums? Need more banging, more poping more bass

Take a listen for yourself and let us know what you think… do you agree with MATTHIAS? Does the track, in fact, need more banging?

Kanye Jay Z

MP3: Kanye West – “Power” Remix featuring Jay Z & Swizz Beatz

Ever since Kanye West revealed to Angie Martinez on Hot 97 that there would be a “Power” remix featuring Jay Z, fans have been waiting on pins and needles to hear it.

Well, the wait is finally over.

Based on the title of this post, you can probably guess that the remix finally hit the web. I mean, what ELSE could this post be about? Poundcake? Speaking of poundcake, I tweeted that I would LOVE some… and then got a reply from @blueben that said, “One pound of butter, one pound of sugar, one pound of flour. Get to it!” I was SHOCKED!

THAT’S the recipe for poundcake????

I couldn’t believe it! I’ve been eating poundcake my entire life… do NOT tell me that I’ve been shoving one pound of sugar, butter, and flour into my body! That’s just disgusting! But so is mayonnaise…

So anyway, I did a search for “poundcake recipes” and discovered that THIS is the way grandmother makes it (courtesy of

1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
4 eggs
1 teaspoon butter flavored extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 9×13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil and water. Beat until moistened. Add eggs and beat well. Add flavorings. Beat 6 to 8 minutes on medium high speed. Batter will be very thick.
Pour into prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 40 to 45 minutes or until tester comes out clean.

Pretty cool, huh? Well, so is this remix.

Take a listen and knock yourself out!
