MP3: Standing Shadows – “We Are Everlasting”

I needed a good kick in the ass this morning to get the day going. To be honest, I actually enjoy waking up early because I tend to get more work done. The other day I got up at 4am to do some homework, and whaddyaknow by the time 7 rolled around, I had made a good dent in my assignments. I was dead tired by 12 noon and was therefore completely useless until I got a nap in there, but that’s not the point. The point is that Standing Shadows‘ latest track, “We Are Everlasting,” gave me the kick in the ass I needed this morning.

According to their blog, Standing Shadows music has been featured in television shows like the new 90210 (2 times), The Shield, Harper’s Island, and The Cleaner (2 times) which begs the questions:

“Has anyone ever watched the new 90210 show? Is it even still on?”

The band is based out of Los Angeles and the track “We Are Everlasting” carries a sound that demands to be played at high volume. Their music has been described as ranging from “uber-chill heroin whispers to heart-pumping, sweat-soaking screams,” which begs the question:

“Has anyone ever had uber-chill heroin whispers?”

I’m going to hit the books. Here are Standing Shadows‘ upcoming show dates. Make sure you check out “We Are Everlasting” below in the Dig-It section.

The Kills: Live Acoustic on NPR

I woke up this morning and realized that today is the last day of SXSW. Wow. I missed it. Ratfarts.

But you know what? That’s ok because I’m ok and you’re ok… everybody’s A-OK!

So anyway, the thought of SXSW brought up The Kills. They’ve fascinated me since seeing them perform on the most excellent Live From Abby Road series on the tube. Here’s a video of what I saw… still very cool, indeed…

Last month we told you about their upcoming album, Blood Pressures, which is set to drop on April 5. I’m very much looking forward to this release, and I got even more excited when I came across this acoustic performance on NPR.

Tasty.

If you’re not familiar with The Kills, I highly encourage you to take about 20 minutes and listen to that performance. It’s too early in the morning for me to think of anything more to say about it than “Tasty.”

Below you’ll find the track “DNA,” a cut off the upcoming Blood Pressures record.

SUPER tasty.
