The first time I heard My Morning Jacket was when a buddy of mine gave me a copy of their 2001 album, At Dawn. I couldn’t help but notice how much reverb they used… they used so much reverb that every reverb unit I owned refused to work because all of the reverb within a 500 mile radius around me was sucked up in a “reverb vacuum” until at least 2315. I had to travel to music stores outside that radius in order to buy new reverb units that had never heard At Dawn before. Wow.
Could I have used the word “reverb” any more in that last paragraph??? Anyhow, despite this massive reverb (there’s the word again!) onslaught, I loved what I heard and have been following the band ever since.
My Morning Jacket has eased up on the effect but not their incredible songwriting. They’re what I consider a well-rounded band… they can drift within different decades of music with ease and never sound out of place. I don’t consider them pigeon holed into any time period, nor do I consider them incapable of creating a sound that reaches beyond the current decade.
If you’re not familiar with My Morning Jacket, you need to hear this bootleg. It’s a great sounding recording for one that’s not off a soundboard. The notes are clear, the vocals are mixed well and you can hear just about everything you need to hear.
My Morning Jacket will be doing a five-night stand at New York City’s Terminal 5… this is pretty cool so pay attention…
Taken from their official website:
New York City’s Terminal 5 will be presenting a historic five night run of shows in which My Morning Jacket will perform one of their full-length albums in its entirety each night, along with additional songs and covers from each album’s time period. The stint will kick off on Monday, October 18th, with a performance of the 1999 debut The Tennessee Fire, and will be followed chronologically by their next four full length albums, ending with 2008’s Evil Urges. on Saturday, October 23rd.
10/18 – Terminal 5 – New York City, NY – The Tennessee Fire
10/19 – Terminal 5 – New York City, NY – At Dawn
10/21 – Terminal 5 – New York City, NY – It Still Moves
10/22 – Terminal 5 – New York City, NY – Z
10/23 – Terminal 5 – New York City, NY – Evil Urges and beyond!
The unfortunate thing is that tickets have already gone on sale, so I’m not sure if the shows are sold out or not. Sorry. (I just tried to purchase tickets for the first night and they’re still available)
If you can’t get tickets, you can always listen to this bootleg! Yeah, some consolation, huh?
Go ahead and say it… “Thanks for taking so long to tell us about the shows, Swap. You SUCK.”
Hey now, that’s just mean! But well deserved.

As always, thanks for the insightful choice in music.
Another band I know very little about, I sure do love bootlegs, I always say you are the king of them! I have no idea where you find all of these at but we are very thankful that you do!!
