So it’s been three months and ten days since I’ve written here. After that last Alive and Kicking post, I bet some of you thought Ol’ Swap would be back in the saddle with the posts here… but NOPE. DIDN’T HAPPEN.
Why, Swap? WHY???
Well, I’ll tell you… because some stranger went through my stuff (including my GOOD underwear) and stole some of that said stuff. Yes, I was robbed. And THIS time, it wasn’t of a Grammy, Oscar, or Emmy… it was of my computer, digital camera, video camera, and some other electronics. My good underwear was (thankfully) spared. Right now, some bloke thinks he’s pretty clever with the climbing over my wall and the breaking my door down, but little does he/she know that I’ve got Batman on the case, and I bet that soon I’ll get a call from Bats telling me that he’s got the Bat-suspect dangling by the Bat-rope off a REALLY tall Bat-building.
“What do you want me to Bat-do?” Batman will ask.
“Drop the Bat-jerkwad off that Bat-building but film it so I can post the video on YouTube. But first get my s**t back!”

Ah, if I were only that lucky. Chances are, my stuff is in the hands of someone new right now who bought it all for a song.
Anyhow, the point of this is to say that I finally got a new computer and it’s time to start writing here again.
I’ve been on an INXS kick for the past month or so. Their breakthrough hit “What You Need” came on my iPod and I said to myself, “Self? That’s pretty frikkin’ awesome.” It was then that I discovered Beck’s Record Club. For those of you that don’t know who Beck is, he’s simply the most popular cheese in the world. Here’s a little ditty on what Beck’s Record Club is all about (taken off the official site):
Apparently, they’re working on INXS‘ 1987 smash album, Kick and have already covered “Guns in the Sky,” “Mediate,” “New Sensation,” and others. Here’s the recordings session for “New Sensation.”
Below, I’ve posted a couple of selections from the sessions so far… hop on over there and check it out because A) it’s cool and B) we all want to be cool.
And finally, to the bastard that stole my stuff… stop stealing from people. It’s not nice. It makes people angry. It doesn’t look good on your resume. And finally, what goes around comes around, so be ready for the hammer to fall on your head. I only wish I could be there to witness that moment.
I just got an email from my bank saying that there has been irregular card activity as of today. So I called and the nice customer service representative told me of three transactions that I did not do. Great. When it rains, it pours. STOP STEALING, PEOPLE!!!!!!

Glad you're back Swap, I missed the musings and links. I'm sorry about your electronics though.
Where was Sherman?
So sorry someone took your stuff, that sucks!
I'll check the Beck stuff out, INXS rocks!
Sir Dude, You have been missed big time!!! After a tough week at work, seeing THEFRONTLOADER in my inbox put a big smile on my face. Bummer about your electronics. Hopefully your music was all backed up, safe and sound??? And as for that little fuzzy bear… I'm assuming he is safe and sound? (probably a safe place to stash your extra cash and hard drives.. I'm sure he would not mind…… LOL) Good to have you back…. don't be a stranger…(well, any stranger then usual.) Be well my friend………..
Thank you! It's good to be back here. I gotta say, though… no computer = SO much more time in your life… quite liberating.
Sherman claims he growled and did all these “terrifying bear poses” when he saw the burglar, but I think he was asleep the whole time. I'm REALLY glad he's ok, though… but don't tell him I said that.
Thank you very much for the kind comment! All my stuff was backed up and I'm lucky the burglar did not take the external drive. As for Sherman, well… now he can say that he lived through a robbery. I don't know what that does for him, but apparently chicks dig it and that it's helping him “get more tail” than ever.
Thank you for reading!
WHOO HOO!!!! you're baaaaack!! hey, what say we sic batgirl on the scum!! wait 'til she is pms'ing…then the dog doesn't stand a chance! ooo…did the creep get other stuff or maybe hack in your 'puter and thus the reason for the inequities in your account??? I DON'T LIKE THIS GUY!!!!!! glad to hear the bear is aok…knew the wiley little thing would be :-)
cool music!! KEEP IT COMING!!
Hey… why does it have to be a guy? Can't a girl be a burglar as well? ;-)
ok point taken. but i still DON'T LIKE THIS PERSON!!! by the by how's school going?
connie
Very, very cool!
Thanks so much for the intro to this.. Gonna check it out more.
Welcome back :)
Tommy, I am truly sorry to hear of your “violation.” Been there, and it really does something ugly to one's soul for a while, besides the cost and putting all the pieces of your life back together again. But it's good to hear from you again. Trust me that this unfortunate episode will someday be a faint memory.
I hope school is going well, and you are able to find some creative time in composing some of your own wonderful music for us to marvel over. I was listening to some of your music just the other day, and wanting more. How's that for pressure?
Great to have you back – carry on!
Oh! Thanks for the Record Club versions – love New Sensation – let the creative juices flow!
Was Frank hiding behind Sherman?
Can they testify in court?
School is going well, thank you :) I'm actually really enjoying it!
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the cover versions… very cool very cool!
Yes, you are right that it does something ugly to one's soul for a while. Makes you paranoid and you lose a bit of faith in mankind… I don't think these people think about how it hits the people they steal from.
And for all you to-be-burglars out there… if you steal a camera, PLEASE leave the memory card. I don't care about the camera, but the memories inside that card are priceless.
LOL I don't think the court will accept testimony from a stuffed bear and hippo… but with Obama leading the pack, you just never know ;-P
Tommy, these kind of people don't care how much it hurts someone. But you can bet that if it happened to them, they would be ready to kill.
My “violation” was an easy catch for the police, although I never got anything back – the stupid idiot made our stolen checks out to himself, with HIS name. The DA's office wouldn't include us on ANY results from the investigation, but I have to trust that they nailed the guy.
I had a friend visiting from out of state last week, and someone lifted her camera out of her purse while we were in a drugstore downtown, innocently buying bottled water. The person probably thought it was a wallet since the camera was in a case. Never mind that the camera was new — just made her sick losing all the memories.
I agree with you… if it happened to them, they'd be ready to kill.
Mean people SUCK. People who steal from people SUCK. I can't wait for karma to catch up to them.
And yes, the loss of the memories is the most heartbreaking part of having your camera stolen… or your phone. People who steal CELLPHONES suck too.
You know I think you are amazing and I am just smiling at the first post in months. I don't even care what it is about I am just glad to see you doing what you do best.
and FYI, robbery=scarriest moment in a while. Just sayin'
You mean I could have written a post called “Mindy sucks worse than Premonition” and you would have been like YAY?
Hmmm… I didn't take advantage of that. RATS.
