I’ve had a busy couple of weeks with classes starting up again, but I’m never too busy to see what my friends and fellow bloggers are listening to and sharing with their readers out on the ol’ internets. It’s funny… seems that the busier school gets, the more I post here. Maybe that’s because in the midst of all the covalent bonds and nosocomial nonsense, I need something to bring me back to where it all starts with me… which is music.
A friend once told me that “music is life.” I can honestly say that OXYGEN is life, but music comes at a close second.
So knowing all this, once again it’s time for The Most Important Music Links EVER On The Web (right now). Check out all the great sites below, grab some cool music, leave a comment or two, and make sure to tell ‘em Swap sent you.

[LINK] Our friends at Popdose have been busy putting out some great content as usual. One post that grabbed our attention this week was the latest “Parlour to Parlour” episode featuring an artist, Correatown (Angela Correa), who we also featured here at The Frontloader in December 2008. Check out the Correatown episode, which includes a video interview with Angela, a performance video, and a couple great Correatown songs for you to download.
[LINK] Our buddy Pete at Blogness On The Edge Of Town was able to hit up not one, but two Springsteen shows recently. A song request moment during one of the shows inspired this week’s Cover of the Week, “For You”. Stop by Blogness, read the back story, and grab a few covers of Springsteen’s “For You”. While you’re there, also check out the recent interview Blogness did with Springsteen fan and blogger, Erin, who plans to spend the next 267 days discussing the songs in Springsteen’s catalog – one song a day.
[LINK] Once again Addicted to Vinyl has offered up a great Monday Morning Mix for readers to download (only up through the weekend, so grab it while you can). The mix includes songs from great artists, including The Connells, Suzanne Vega, Wilco, Springsteen, The Pretenders… just to name a few. Check out the post and grab the mix – great music to have on hand for a long holiday weekend!
[LINK] Pete over at IckMusic lists his top 3 hip-hop songs of all time (with free downloads of each). Stop by, see who made the list, grab the downloads, and make sure to leave your top 3 in the comments before you leave!
[LINK] Pop Tarts Suck Toasted has a great 2009 Fall Preview post that lists some album releases coming up in the next few months, complete with mp3 downloads to sample. Music from Yo La Tengo, Jay-Z, Muse, Flight of the Conchords, and more. Check it out.
[LINK] If you’re a fan of Nine Inch Nails, you probably know that the band is in the midst of their farewell tour. Well, Spin Magazine posted that this last Wednesday Reznor invited Gary Numan on stage to perform with the band. They performed two Numan songs, including his 1979 hit “Cars”. Click on the link above to read more about the appearance and to watch a video of their “Cars” performance.
[LINK] For the latest in music news, videos, contests, and more, stop by The Music Slut. There’s always a little something for everyone, and with a free mp3 download in practically every post, you’ll definitely get your download fix. While you’re there, check out this very cool performance of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ song “Maps” by Radiohead at Reading Fest 2009. Very cool.
[LINK] Speaking of Radiohead, Radiohead Not For Profit, a site that posts live recordings of Radiohead performances, posted mp3s of Radiohead’s Reading show. Grab ‘em if ya want ‘em. (Thanks to largeheartedboy – another site you should definitely check out – for the heads up!)
I hope you check out the links, bookmark the sites, leave some comments, and enjoy the music! To close out the post, we’ve included a nice little mix of songs for you, some acoustic (to tie in with our recent Hall & Oates acoustic bootleg posts), and some not (to tie in with absolutely nothing other than the fact that they’re all new tunes that I’ve been digging this week).
Enjoy!
