Wow yesterday was a long day. I was at school from about 9:30am to almost 10pm. THAT, my friends, is a LONG day. One interesting thing happened, though… I ate a Taco Bell Grilled Stuft Burrito in about 30 seconds. Now, I won’t claim to be the fastest eater in the world, but that’s GOTTA be some kind of record (amongst only the people I know). I horked it down right before my microbio lab. A couple of classmates were able to witness this amazing feat… they looked at me and said, “Did you even TASTE it?”
Wiping my mouth on my sleeve, I answered “Taste what?”
Speaking of Taco Bell, here is the second part of the Hall & Oates acoustic bootleg.
I hope you all enjoyed the first half… I took a listen to a few select tracks again and I must say… ”Everytime You Go Away” is friggin’ AWESOME. The B3 organ intro brings out a different side of the song which I didn’t hear before. The version I’m most familiar with is that of Paul Young. He hit the top spot in 1985 with that tune… even performed it on Live Aid… lucky man, lucky man.
One of my favorite Mondegreens (the technical word for misheard lyrics) is from the chorus of ”Everytime You Go Away.” The actual lyric is:
You take a piece of me with you
The Mondegreen is:
You take a piece of meat with you
HAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!!! I can just imagine someone going to my freezer, taking a pound of beef, then saying, “See ya, Swap!” I’d sit there, completely dumbfounded because I was gonna use that beef for some Hamburger Helper… the stroganoff. Yeah, that’s the best kind.
Hoo boy.
This second half of the bootleg contains some great renditions of songs you probably already know… like ”Private Eyes,” or ”Maneater,” or even Marvin Gaye’s ”What’s Goin’ On.” I do believe that Mr. Oates takes the lead vocal here… he once called himself “the highest paid back-up singer EVER.” It’s great to hear him do his thing here.
Mmmmm… Hamburger Helper sounds good right now. Stroganoff IS the best one…
