Lately I’ve been on this huge Joshua Tree trip… I have the disc playing in my car, my iPod, even in my head when I’m supposed to be studying.

Well, today I came across a live recording of a song off the album, “Exit.” I was so excited to play it because A) I didn’t even realize I had it and B) I frakkin’ LOVE the song.
When I took a listen, though… YIKES. It was awful. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Bono sound THIS bad since the early days of U2… I mean, this is even worse than the original 7″ recording of “Party Girl.” Let’s face it, he wasn’t that great a vocalist back then. Even HE can’t listen to the early records because of his singing.
Getting back to this live version of “Exit,” i couldn’t help but crack up while listening. Bono sounds like he’s never heard the song before… he loses his place, sings the same verse twice, is completely off pitch, and barely salvages the song at the end. All of this adds up to the #1 spot for the Worst Performance EVER by Bono.
The band kicks ASS though, which only accentuates the hilarity of Bono’s performance.
“Exit” is one of the darkest songs by U2, and is spectacular live… but this performance is one of those that you just want to forget. Unfortunately for Bono and luckily for us, it was caught on tape.
Good LORD this is awful.

You were not over-exaggerating at all.
Wow, I didn’t know that you could use “worst” and “Bono” in the same sentence! Great stuff, man!
I shall now erase this sound from my memory and I refuse to believe that any such recording exists.
Ummmm, yeah. Bad.
Do I EVER exaggerate???
Ah, you have it confused, my friend… you can’t use the words “worst” and “Swapmeet Louie” in the same sentence.
LOL!!!!!!!
Ummmm, yeah. Bullet the Blue Sky.
