I first heard it when the Oak Ridge Boys recorded and didn't know for years that THe Band did it first. We also saw Miranda Lambert a few weeks ago and she did it in concert. Still like the Oak Ridge boys best, though. Nothing like Richard Sterban's bass. Oh, Tommy, I love Up on Cripple Creek. "Long Trip Alone" is one of my favorite songs of Dierks. He said in an interview that it started out as a song for his wife, it then became about all the people in his life and ended up as a prayer. Every week, the mix of tunes on your top five, never seem to amaze me with musical diversity. I have to say Swap, you have the most excellent taste in music. You always have the coolest songs. I'm not sure if you're aware, but I am a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. "Ten" came out when, 1992? 1991? Anyway, it was a favorite of mine, I bought TWO copies just in case one went astray (brother-in-law had a knack for borrowing CDs and not returning them). I had my first child in 1993 and I used to put this cd on low to rock him to sleep - I chose this one, not only because it was such a good CD but because of THIS particular song.....the formula we gave him was EvenFlo. LMAO (Interestingly enough, he's a big PJ fan now!!) Thanks for these downloads, as always... I LOVE this part of this site!! You always have the coolest songs.

But thanks to you, my itouch is filled with great tunes I wouldn't have otherwise. So thanks again for the music and the background. You amaze me. I like the sound of this. Kind of old school. - DBT - another GREAT show I just missed at the Ryman. Geez. - DB - You dissin' the bubblegum pop - oops, modern country scene? Well, good. At least Dierks has some live chops so he be ok. And the video for "Long Trip Alone" gave him a welcome edge, plus it was cool to see him cutting the famous blond ringlets on camera to deliberately blast the pop image. (Can you imagine if the camera malfunctioned?) Got to say I like "Heaven" ok but don't love it. - WS - nice. - The Band - when someone hit play on a concert of theirs on a 70" screen last summer, my very active 20-month-old nephew stopped in his tracks and stood in front of the screen, transfixed. Kept looking at me as if to say, are you SEEING this? Yep, I was. The kid has taste. Oh, and I think it's "Annie." You need to do a blog on SOMETHING where you can post a Pat Boone track. - PJ – still learning about them. I like the sound of this. Kind of old school.

I'm an album listening kinda guy, except when I'm shuffling, which has been a lot over the past couple of years. I have a buddy that is an EC fiend....to bait him one time, I made mention of something being "like a bad Clapton show" - and he quickly set me straight and let me know that there is no such thing...funny. I've become more of a fan of The Band as the years go by - I still don't own nearly enough. I need to work on that. re: PJ – twenty-two times…really??? wow!!

I agree, PJ's Ten album is awesome! Love The White Stripes. And 'Take A Load Off, Fanny' really is a great song, isn't it?! ;) Happy Black Friday! I did my shopping from the comfort of my own home...in my jammies...while sipping on coffee and nibbling on burnt toast. ONLY way to shop I say! I love these top 5 lists.
