Here you are, as promised, the second half of the 1975 San Diego Led Zeppelin show. I hope you all dug part one of this show. Some of the files in this half are pretty ginormous, like “Moby Dick.” (insert phallic joke here) I think the biggest file is for “Dazed and Confused,” because this particular version is over 30 minutes long. That’s pretty normal for the song, though. I’ve read instances where they managed to stretch this song out to about an hour.
Wow. An hour. On ONE song. Robert Plant must’ve been overjoyed and took a nap during Page’s solo. Let it never be said that Jimmy Page didn’t earn his keep.
One of my favorite performances in this bootleg is “Trampled Under Foot.” I love the groove, and being a keyboardist myself, I totally dig the Clavinet that the song is centered around. John Paul Jones is an underrated keyboardist… I’ve always wondered what’s playing the bass in this performance. Anybody know? It doesn’t sound like the bass notes of a Clav. I wonder if he’s using foot pedals or something, the way Geddy Lee does in Rush.
Anyhow, the lyrics are exceptionally gritty, sexual, and downright dirty here. I don’t know how many of you have ever taken the time to figure out what Plant is singing, so here are a few choice lines:
Baby, I could work all night, believe I’ve got the perfect tools
Guaranteed to run for hours, mama it’s a perfect size
I’m so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors
In between these verses he just sings the refrain “Talkin’ ‘bout love.” If anybody has a question as to whether he’s singing about cars or girls, let me answer that with a resounding “GIRLS.”
Jimmy Page’s solo is outrageously sloppy in this song, which is just awesome to hear. He’s often criticized for his sloppiness, but I think it adds to the message of “Trampled Under Foot.” Sex is sloppy. If it ain’t sloppy, you ain’t doin’ it right.
‘Nuff said.
Enjoy and let me know you’re out there!

Thanks for Part 2…I will download when I get home :)
I feel very cool having a full Zeppelin bootleg, I must say. Something to brag up to my brother :D Have you ever seen that car commercial where the lady voice says ‘When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?’. What a great line. And I know that has nothing to do with this article or Led Zeppelin, but well, you’re talking cars… girls… sex… so yeah, just came to mind :)
Thank you for both articles and all the music. And, I agree, one hour IS a long ass time for one song.
The longest D&C ever recorded was 42 minutes long. And John Paul Jones is using foot pedals to play bass as he is playing keys. He did this on Since I’ve Been Loving You, Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir, as well as others.
Have you read any of Pamela Des Barres books? I’m sure Sherman has! I don’t think Robert Plant was exactly “napping” during those long guitar solos! :)
Thanks for the downloads!!
just LOVE zepplin!!! THANKS for the downloads!!! saw them on their first u.s. tour. tooooo awesome!!
That’s awesome. Where did you see them and what date?
Dude, keep ‘em coming! I seriously go to this page every single day to see what new material has been posted. I absolutely LOVE Zeppelin, and Zep bootlegs? Hell yea, count me in!
Thanks for that info! 42 minutes… wow… anybody got that on tape? On Stairway I always thought he used an 88 key Rhodes and did the bass from that… cool to know that he’s a foot pedal guy. Thanks!
Where did you see them play?
Yes, I have that tape plus hundreds more shows. Let me know if you want any more info on bootlegs.
Very cool!! I love Heartbreaker! Love the tune on that one!! But then again I love Dazed and Confused and Moby DIck too!! I just love ALL of their songs! They all have something special! Thanks again! I am really enjoying this tonight! :)
