My oldest brother, John, first introduced me to Led Zeppelin when I was in high school. I can still recall the first Zeppelin song I had ever heard: “Misty Mountain Hop.” John was blasting it from his room and it was seriously pissing me off because it was drowning out the music I was listening to.
I banged on his door and yelled at him to turn that crap down. Well, when he opened the door, I honestly thought he was going to knock my block off… but he just calmly told me to sit and listen.
Since John introduced me to many of the bands I was diggin’ on at the time, I figured I’d better give this band a shot. He started the song over and I remember thinking, “This is cool,” as the opening electric piano riff grooved along, but when Robert Plant started singing, I couldn’t take it.
“What IS this s***?” I asked him. He showed me the album cover and told me that they’re the greatest band ever.
“You mean THIS s***?” I said. I laughed and walked out…
Years later, as I went through John’s cd collection, I came across Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti album. Remembering how awful this band was, I popped it in for laughs… well, that album never left my cd player for an entire summer. I spun it everyday and sheepishly asked him for more Zeppelin albums.
He laughed, handed me a stack of cds and sent me on my way.
To this day I don’t know what the hell I was thinking when I first heard “Misty Mountain Hop.” I’ll chalk it up to age… yeah, let’s just leave it at that.
One thing I’ve always longed for from the Zeppelin camp was MORE LIVE RELEASES. I don’t care HOW sloppy Jimmy Page played, their live recordings always had something new to offer within the songs: new jams, new riffs, new grooves, new call-and-answer stuff between Page and Plant, new solos…
So for any and all of you out there that agree with me, I present to you a great sounding Led Zeppelin bootleg from a San Diego show in 1975. The really cool thing is that this show was during their tour to support Physical Graffiti. See how I brought this back to the beginning of the article? Nice.
I’m cutting this up into two parts again because these files are pretty frikkin’ big. I’ll post the rest of the show tomorrow.
Oh, and John was right: Led Zeppelin IS the greatest band EVER.

You posted Kashmir! Awesome!!! Zeppelin rocks. Nothing more needs be said.
Look at all the downloads! You are going to spoil us.
Thank you!
Zeppelin KICKS MAJOR ASS. Period. That is all.
Led Zeppelin rules! Over The Hills and Kashmir are two of my favorites. And these are very interesting versions. Thanks!
A friend of a friend used to be the drummer for ‘Lez Zeppelin’, an all female Led Zep tribute band. They’re pretty good, too.
This is great!! Did you know I had tickets to see them the year John Bonham died?? Yes, I’m old.
I agree with you, I love live Led Zep, I have a DVD of some old concert footage that is so cool to watch, and some of the songs they played so fast they almost sounded like different songs, you know? And I have to thank my sister Debbie for turning me on to them, she was cool and I wanted to be cool too so I stole her records all the time.
Thanks for these!
Led Zeppelin and Rush (oh and KISS too) are a few of the bands I distinctly remember my brother and his college roommates turning me on to. Kashmir’s probably one of my favorite Zeppelin songs. Thank you for all the downloads! Look forward to part 2 :)
Oh, he introduced me to Billy Squier too…was it cool to be a Billy Squier fan back in the day? Or no? Man he’s got some good stuff. lol
Oh and gotta add – Over The Hills And Far Away…such an awesome song!!
I LOVE Led Zeppelin!! My oldest sister Kathy introduced me to them back in the 70′s when I was a kid! Then my step dad loved them..then in high school my group of friends all got on this Led Zeppelin kick. We drove around blasting it all the time! It was awesome!! Thanks so much for the downloads!! :)
Funny story about you and your brother! Yes what were you thinking? HAHA!! You should post a picture of you and your brother some time! :)
I was at this 1975 San Diego show, and although I don’t remember the order of the songs, I do remember that the show opened with Over The Hills And Far Away.
Coolness! Thank you for the info! I wish I could have seen them live just ONCE.
Thanx for the great download!
I listened to the band intermittently beginning in ’76 (heard ‘ZOSO’ rampantly that Bicentennial summer) but it’s only been in the past several years that it was fully obvious to me how great they were.
