Amy Kuney was once kidnapped by rebels while on a Guatemala sightseeing trip.
That’s pretty frikkin’ unbelievable… but it’s apparently true. I’ve never been kidnapped by rebels before. I have no frame of reference to even fathom what that must have been like.
But there’s a silver lining to everything (so they say), and this awful experience inspired Kuney to throw herself into her music. She converted her basement into a studio and began writing, recording, and eventually getting noticed by some industry folk. She’s in her mid-20’s, but has already scored spots on television shows like [...]

The news of Michael Jackson’s death is still at the forefront of most every conversation I’ve been having for the past few days. “So… Michael Jackson’s dead,” or “So… did you hear that Michael Jackson died?” or “So what do you think of Michael Jackson’s death?” are typically how the subject is brought up. Even my mom wanted to talk about it.
It seems that MJ’s death resonated deeper into our hearts than we expected it to.
The conversations I’ve been having usually start with how shocked we were when we heard the news… how young the man was… how amazing he was as a performer, singer, artist… and how there won’t be another one like him for a LONG time. Since his 1982 release Thriller, has there been anyone to come close to Jackson as a performer? I’d argue [...]

By now you’ve probably heard that Michael Jackson passed away this last Thursday in Los Angeles, California. He was just 50.
By now there are probably thousands upon thousands of articles written on his death, and most of them probably trace his life from The Jackson 5 to Thriller to all the tabloid scandals.
And by now a bunch of radio stations around the world are or have probably had Michael Jackson Marathons.
I was shocked to hear of the news, because I honestly didn’t know life without Michael Jackson. I was just a kid when Thriller hit [...]

Happy Father’s Day to all of you fortunate dads out there! It’s YOUR day today, so go get what’s yours…. you know what I mean… yeah, that’s right…
It’s June so that must mean that a bunch of people graduated from somewhere. It’s that time of year where we see a lot of “Congratulations!” or “Congraduations!” type of stuff, and it’s not uncommon to see people do-up their cars with those sorts of messages. So I’m driving down the road and pull up behind one of those cars.
Here’s what I saw: [photo after jump...]

Ok, so I’m a day late with This Week’s Top 5 Most Played Songs From Swap’s iTunes, but the point is that it’s here and it’s AWESOME.
Yes, this week’s list will please everyone… it’ll make you laugh, make you cry, make you think, and make you want to cuddle.
CUDDLE, I say. CUDDLE. Sometimes you just gotta cuddle.
Are you ready? Are you fully prepared to experience this list?
I think you are. Here’s This Week’s Top 5 Most Played Songs From Swap’s iTunes [...]
Man, this last week was a killer. I’m taking a class this summer, and it’s been a pretty intense time so far. I’ve got class pretty much every night and if I don’t keep up with the material, I might as well give up and drop it… something that I do NOT want to do.
I took my second test of the summer session yesterday, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The professor does an excellent job on covering the material, and his tests are a good representation of his lectures. I didn’t get 100%, but that’s ok. I kinda wish I DID get 100%, but I had a massive brain fart and [...]

I’ve been studying for most of this weekend. Oh, it’s a good time, I assure you… I’m having a blast with all these hip phospholipids. They’re really becoming my friends and if I were any more familiar with them, I’d be called a phospholipideophile.
Anyhow, one particular movie that I’ve been enjoying is Die Hard. It just keeps coming on the TV for some reason. I’m not sure if this is some special weekend for Bruce Willis or something, but he’s getting quite a few residual checks from the movie’s airing. I wonder what AFTRA pays him, and how I can get a piece of that. Too bad I didn’t write Die Hard.
Right now it’s the scene where John McClane [...]

Ok, so I missed last week’s Top 5 list. Sorry about that. I DID, however, make a pretty cool domino set up that looked cool… until it didn’t work. There’s nothing worse than spending a long-ass time setting up dominos only to discover that it doesn’t work because of ONE misplaced domino.
Stupid misplaced domino.
I wish all the stupid misplaced dominos would NOT be misplaced so that my cool domino set up would work. It would have been so cool. Something to write home about… or at least write about here.
Waitaminute… I AM writing about it here. I guess it was pretty cool despite the stupid misplaced domino.
What the hell am I talking about????

As you all know, one of the most popular music festivals out there, Bonnaroo 2009, kicks off today in Manchester, Tennessee… I think I read that almost 80,000 people are expected to attend. Wow. Around 150 acts will grace the various stages and cafes over the next few days, including some of my absolute favorites (Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Nine Inch Nails, Wilco… just to name a few).
If you’re like me, you’re sitting at home studying about phospholipids, just wishing you were able to make the trek down to Tennessee to partake in the festivities. And even though that’s obviously not the case for me since I’m [...]

Well, classes have resumed again for me. I’m taking summer classes now, which are far more intense than the regular semester courses. Professors have found a way to cram a semester’s worth of material into seven weeks. That’s pretty awesome, especially because seven weeks is a pretty damn short time. Yep. I’m gonna have a grand time keeping up with Mr. Psycho professor who things we’re not humans, we’re frikkin’ flash drives.
I realize that I haven’t posted anything here lately, and for that I can only say that I decided to take some time off before classes started up again. Don’t worry, though [...]
